Rashidova and Chadwick violin-piano duo
    have recorded the premiere
    of the complete Godowsky works
for violin and piano on the Naxos label.

Godowsky's works for violin and piano inhabit an atmospheric and colourful world familiar to all devotees of his music. Having known of Godowsky’s exceptionally virtuosic material for the piano, I was surprised and pleased to find a complete published collection of his works for violin and piano. The Twelve Impressions that the other five works on the CD revolve around, are thoughtfully coloured in the violin part through the suggested fingering and phrasing of the great 20th century violinist, Fritz Kreisler. The last two works closing the CD are an addition to complete the collection. They are the famous Alt-Wien, (transcribed by Jascha Heifetz) and Nocturnal Tangier (transcribed by F. Kreisler). We recorded these works in 2012, on the Naxos label, making this a recording premičre of a collection of Godowsky’s works for violin and piano. The CD will be launched at the Wigmore Hall in London on Thursday 26th September 2013 at 1.00pm. The programme is to include works by Mozart, Godowsky, Moszkowski and Szymanowski.
